In the April 2008 Priesthood Session, President Monson mentioned political machinations. Not knowing what that meant I looked up the word and was stunned as I read the definition. This videos was inspired to help wake up my fellow LDS members to the dangers we face in America as seen over 40 years ago by President Ezra Taft Benson. It is time for all of us to get our homes in order in preparation of the approaching PORTENT storm that Pres.Hinckley warned us about in 1998.

For the past couple of weeks I have felt the need to create another youtube video. When these promptings come, it is difficult for me to focus on anything else until the video is complete. Well it is finally done. I share this with the hope that is might touch another person's life whether you are LDS or not and give them the inspiration and motivation to prepare a little harder for the "great and dreadful day of the Lord". which I feel is closer than we realize. Please share this with anyone that you would benefit from watching it. I would love to hear people's thoughts and feelings after they watch it. We are the chosen generation who needs to prepare for the second Coming of the Savior. We are on a mission to prove whether or not we will persevere in a world ripening in iniquity. We are among the elect whom the Lord has called during this "eleventh hour" to labor in His vineyard, a vineyard that has become corrupted every whit" and which only a few "doeth good". We are those few.. (excerpts for Sheri Dew) People of all faiths, LDS, Protestants, Baptists, good men and women all over the world are preparing to meet Christ. I personally look forward to the day.

For the millions of people who lived before the Restoration of Christ's Church, temple ordinances were not available during their lifetime. Even today, millions live and die without ever hearing the name of Jesus Christ or without accepting the gospel he taught. Provision must be made, then, for those who have died without that opportunity. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints ("Mormon Church") teaches that all saving ordinances are to be performed on earth on behalf of the dead. Latter-day Saints, also known as Mormons, stand as proxies for their own ancestors in these ceremonies, including baptisms and sealings for husbands and wives and for parents and children. All temple work is valid only if it is willingly accepted by each individual prior to the Resurrection. Performing temple ordinances receives strong emphasis in the LDS (Mormon) Church. Members of the Church, Mormons, are taught that they have a religious obligation to trace their own genealogies and perform temple ordinances for their ancestors. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z3Zsvml57PE is a video describing how to learn more about the Mormon Church. President Gordon B. Hinckley, world leader of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon Church, LDS Church or "Mormonism"), was ordained and set apart as the 15th President of the Mormon Church on Sunday, March 12, 1995. President Hinckley passed away Sunday, January 27, 2008 and was mourned by millions of Mormons and non-Mormons around the world. He had earlier served 14 years as a counselor in the First Presidency, the top governing body of the Mormon Church (Mormonism), and as a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of the LDS Church for 20 years prior to that. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z3Zsvml57PE is a video describing how to learn more about the Mormon Church. This is a video I created from clips from a few movies--The Restoration, Praise to the Main, Emma Smith: My Story--as part of my testimony of Joseph Smith, the Mormon prophet. Please leave a comment about "Joseph Smith, Mormon Prophet"! Mormons revere Joseph Smith as the prophet who was called of God to restore the Church of Jesus Christ in its fullness to the earth, today known as the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon Church or "Mormons"). On a spring day in 1820, 14-year-old Joseph Smith sought solitude in a grove of trees and prayed to know which church was true. God the Father and Jesus Christ, "two Personages, whose brightness and glory defy all description," appeared and spoke with Joseph. Wondering which of the many churches to join, Joseph Smith had followed the counsel in the Bible's book of James: "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God." The Lord told Joseph Smith "that all the religious denominations were believing in incorrect doctrines" and that he was to await further instructions from on high. "In a state of calmness and peace indescribable," Joseph Smith left that sacred grove knowing the reality of our Father in Heaven and His resurrected Son, Jesus Christ. Joseph Smith's first vision stands today as the greatest event in world history since the birth, ministry, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. After centuries of darkness, the Lord opened the heavens to reveal His word and restore His Church through His chosen prophet Joseph Smith. Joseph Smith saw God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, not once, but innumerable times throughout his life. Joseph Smith translated the Book of Mormon, organized the true Church of Jesus Christ upon the earth once more and restored the plain and precious truths which were lost due to the apostasy of men. He lived great and he died great in the eyes of God! To learn more about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church or Mormon Church or the "Mormons"), visit http://www.mormon.org

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z3Zsvml57PE is a video describing how to learn more about the Mormon Church. Howard W. Hunter was born on November 14, 1907, in Boise, Idaho. His father was not a member of the Church, and when Howard wanted to be baptized at age eight, his father forbade it. He finally persuaded his father to let him be baptized when he was twelve years old. At fifteen he earned his Eagle Scout, he was only the second scout in Boise to earn this award. Hunter also excelled in music and learned to play the piano, violin, marimba, drums, saxophone, clarinet and trumpet. After high school, a band he had formed was able to play on a cruise ship during a two-month tour of the Orient. When he returned he learned that his father had finally joined the Church. On June 10, 1931, Howard W. Hunter married Clara Jeffs, a young lady he had been dating for some time. They had three children, one of whom died in childhood. Soon after their marriage, Howard found a job working for the Los Angeles Flood Control District. It was in this job that he became interested in legal matters and decided to study law. He graduated with his law degree in 1939 and was admitted to the bar the same year. On Hunter's 46th birthday his parents surprised him by showing up at the Mesa Arizona Temple ready to be sealed to each other and him, along with his sister, who had also made the trip. This was a pleasant surprise for President Hunter—he and the members of the Pasadena California Stake over which he presided had traveled quite a distance in order to attend the temple in Mesa. The Los Angeles California Temple would open three years later in 1956, also during his tenure as stake president. n 1940, Howard W. Hunter started his own private law practice. A year later, he became bishop of his ward; he served in that position for eight years. Two years after his release from that calling, he was called to be stake president and served in that calling for nine years. During that time he helped in the building of the Los Angeles Temple, and helped start the early-morning seminary program in the area. In 1959, Howard W. Hunter went to Salt Lake City to attend general conference, and while there he was called to have an interview with President David O. McKay. When he arrived for the interview, President McKay immediately began, "The Lord has spoken. You are called to be one of his special witnesses, and tomorrow you will be sustained as a member of the Council of the Twelve" (Eleanor Knowles, Howard W. Hunter, p.144). Hunter was stunned, but accepted the call and was ordained on October 15, 1959. From 1964 to 1972, Howard W. Hunter served as the President of the Genealogical Society of Utah and oversaw the first uploads of records to computers. In 1970 he was called to be the Church Historian. In 1989, Elder Hunter was called to be the President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, and on May 30, 1994, was sustained as the Prophet and President of the Church. Of his calling President Hunter said, "I have shed many tears and have sought my Father in Heaven in earnest prayer with a desire to be equal to the high and holy calling which is now mine" (LDS Church News, "I Pledge My Life and ... Full Measure of My Soul," June 11, 1994). He encouraged all members to become temple worthy, heralding the huge temple-building program of his successor, Gordon B. Hinckley. Howard W. Hunter served for only nine months until his death on March 3, 1995. Information from http://www.mormonwiki.com

William Tyndale was burned alive in the 16th century for printing the English Bible. This was the "tolerance" for religion in England that pushed boatload after boatload of Englishman to the eastern seaboard of the United States, seeking freedom. Thomas JeffersonJefferson swore eternal hostility toward any form of tyranny upon the mind of man: "I have sworn upon the altar of God eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of man." Religious Liberty was of the highest order and concern to these colonists, and the very first of their spelled out "Bill of Rights" reads: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances." So, the First Amendment was to keep the damned hand of government tyranny off of religion, for "Congress shall make no law" concerning religion, and neither shall the damned Soviet Courts in the United States today. Prop 8 was not an "anti-gay" measure, but a 1st Amendment measure to protect religion from the wicked courts who are hostile and seek an inroad at slaughtering the First Amendment. Judges the ilk of Governor Lilburn W. Boggs of Missouri with his infamous "extermination order" against the Mormon's are ready and anxious to criminalize religion if they can do so. An example of these most wicked courts. Recently, the Soviet US District Court in San Francisco ruled that "parental rights are severed" when a child crosses the threshold of the school. Where did this Stalin/Mao/Hitlarian ruling come from? Straight from a tyrannical hell, a US Court that is as un-American as anything you hear of today. People 30 years ago would have laughed you to scorn if you would have predicted a court ruling could take place in America that followed the Marxist ideology of the USSR. But, here we are. Such Soviet rulings have been made and will continue to be made. That ruling enforced a plank of the Communist Manifesto. Respecting religion and the "free exercise thereof," churches absolutely must defend against these damned, wicked courts who now "make law" which the 1st Amendment prohibits Congress from doing, regarding religion. I hope, in a nutshell, this explains the real issue. What a damned lie to say this is "hate filled" by churches. Churches did not start this battle, but they shall be destroyed if they don't stand up and defend the 1st Amendment. It is their defense against hate filled judges who will begin criminalizing churches as soon as they can get an inroad to do so. Marriage as defined as a "man and a woman" is a buffer against such tyranny upon the 1st Amendment. Gay people can have every right and do so under the law. The only difference is their "domestic unions" are not given the legal definition to be a "marriage" which protects churches from a ruthless tyrannical government hell bent upon legislating it into oblivion by the Secularist High Priests of the State Religion of Secularism---the Judges. Mormon's, more than any other people on earth today, perhaps, ought to know what governments can do, for in the 19th Century, the US Federal government sought to "destroy the LDS Church as an institution" as Gordon B. Hinckley expressed a while back. It is true, murder of leadership, their imprisonment, lootings, rape, robbings, plunder, seizure of assets, burning of temples, shutting down of temples, "extermination orders," it's all been had before, and is prophesied to transpire again. We're fools to let it come about easily by not seeking to ensure the 1st Amendment is of force, keeping judges damned hands from "making law" against religion and "the free exercise thereof." Thus, those crying that this is an unfair fight at "denying rights" from gay couples are liars, and the best line sophistry sold in the 2008 election year. http://www.awakeandarise.org/article/lds_targeted.htm

While making this video I was very taken back by the protesters and there veracity and anger. This is certainly a difficult issue for so many but it's important to remember that the LDS church has many very good members who are gay. Though they chose not to live the lifestyle, they still live with the attraction. So what's the problem when we all have something to deal with. We felt it was important to define the term marriage but unfortunately it morphed into something else. Like the label war calling us Haters, bigots, anti-gay, etc. It's actually the opposite and we need to help get that message out. Kevin Hamilton wrote, We did nothing wrong. In fact, we did everything that a civic minded American can and should do. I have put together a few facts that help me to appreciate our position better. For example: 1. Mormons make up less than 2% of the population of California . There are approximately 800,000 LDS out of a total population of approximately 34 million. 2. Mormon voters were less than 5% of the yes vote. If one estimates that 250,000 LDS are registered voters (the rest being children), then LDS voters made up 4.6% of the Yes vote and 2.4% of the total Proposition 8 vote. 3. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons) donated no money to the Yes on 8 campaign. Individual members of the Church were encouraged to support the Yes on 8 efforts and, exercising their constitutional right to free speech, donated whatever they felt like donating. 4. The No on 8 campaign raised more money than the Yes on 8 campaign. Unofficial estimates put No on 8 at $38 million and Yes on 8 at $32 million, making it the most expensive non-presidential election in the country. 5. Advertising messages for the Yes on 8 campaign are based on case law and real-life situations. The No on 8 supporters have insisted that the Yes on 8 messaging is based on lies. Every Yes on 8 claim is supported. 6. The majority of our friends and neighbors voted Yes on 8. Los Angeles County voted in favor of Yes on 8. Ventura County voted in favor of Yes on 8. 7. African Americans overwhelmingly supported Yes on 8. Exit polls show that 70% of Black voters chose Yes on 8. This was interesting because the majority of these voters voted for President-elect Obama. No on 8 supporters had assumed that Obama voters would vote No on 8. 8. The majority of Latino voters voted Yes on 8. Exit polls show that the majority of Latinos supported Yes on 8 and cited religious beliefs (assumed to be primarily Catholic). 9. The Yes on 8 coalition was a broad spectrum of religious organizations. Catholics, Evangelicals, Protestants, Orthodox Jews, Muslims all supported Yes on 8. It is estimated that there are 10 million Catholics and 10 million Protestants in California . Mormons were a tiny fraction of the population represented by Yes on 8 coalition members. 10. Not all Mormons voted in favor of Proposition 8. Our faith accords that each person be allowed to choose for him or her self. Church leaders have asked members to treat other members with "civility, respect and love," despite their differing views. 11. The Church did not violate the principal of separation of church and state. This principle is derived from the First Amendment to the United States Constitution, which reads, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof . . ." The phrase "separation of church and state", which does not appear in the Constitution itself, is generally traced to an 1802 letter by Thomas Jefferson, although it has since been quoted in several opinions handed down by the United States Supreme Court in recent years. The LDS Church is under no obligation to refrain from participating in the political process, to the extent permitted by law. U.S. election law is very clear that Churches may not endorse candidates, but may support issues. The Church as always been very careful on this matter and occasionally (not often) chooses to support causes that it feels to be of a moral nature. 12. Supporters of Proposition 8 did exactly what the Constitution provides for all citizens: they exercised their First Amendment rights to speak out on an issue that concerned them, make contributions to a cause that they support, and then vote in the regular electoral process. For the most part, this seems to have been done in an open, fair, and civil way. Opponents of 8 have accused supporters of being bigots, liars, and worse. The fact is, we simply did what Americans do we spoke up, we campaigned, and we voted. Now, I am not caring today, for myself, anything at all about a political party tag. So far as I am concerned, I want to know what the man stands for ...When I find out these things, when I know who it is who should receive my support, and I care not what his party tag is...Today, our duty transcends party allegiance; our duty today is allegiance to the Constitution as it was given to us by the Lord. (J. Reuben Clark, Jr., CR 10/62:8) We must be devoted to sound principles in word and deed: principle above party, principle above pocketbook, principle above popularity. [Ezra Taft Benson - God, Family, Country] "We engage in the election the same as in any other principle; you are to vote for good men, and if you do not do this it is a sin; to vote for wicked men, it would be sin . Choose the good and refuse the evil. Men of false principles have preyed upon us like wolves upon helpless lambs.. Let every man use his liberties according to the Constitution. Don't fear man or devil; electioneer with all people, male and female, and exhort them to do the thing that is right. We want a President of the United States, not a party President, but a President of the whole peopleand. Have a President who will maintain every man in his rights ." (Hyrum Smith, 1844, DHC-6:323) No nation which has kept the commandments of God has ever perished, but I say to you that once freedom is lost, only blood—human blood—will win it back. There are some things we can and must do at once if we are to stave off a holocaust of destruction. First: We must return to worship the God of this land, who is Jesus Christ... Second: We must awaken to a sense of [our] awful situation, because of this secret combination which [is] among [us] (Ether 8:24)... Then we must put our trust in Him who has promised us His protection—and pray that He will intervene to preserve our freedom just as He intervened in our obtaining it in the first place. Third: We must do as the Lord commanded us by revelation in 1833: Wherefore, honest men and wise men should be sought for diligently, and good men and wise men ye should observe to uphold; otherwise whatsoever is less than these cometh of evil (D&C 98:10). Last: We must study the inspired Constitution and become involved in the political process ourselves... I fully believe that we can turn things around in America if we have the determination, the morality, the patriotism, and the spirituality to do so. My single-minded concern is for the freedom and welfare of my countrymen and my posterity, the freedom of all men. I testify to you that Gods hand has been in our destiny. I testify that freedom as we know it today is being threatened as never before in our history. I further witness that this land—the Americas—must be protected, its Constitution upheld, for this is a land foreordained to be the Zion of our God. He expects us as members of the Church and bearers of His priesthood to do all we can to preserve our liberty. May God bless us that, with His help, we will not fail to bring to pass His purposes on earth. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen. www.LatterdayConservative.com

A fun song to learn little tidbits about the First Presidency and 12 Apostles of the LDS Church. :-) The authors of this video and song have e-mailed me with this reply: "We also have songs for every scripture mastery verse for all four years of seminary. You can find them on lds.about.com then search "sons of ammon". We are not trying to be 'Superman' by witholding our names. We just don't want credit (or blame for that matter) We are just happy that others are benefitting from some talent we have been given."
